We drove our Class C with car in tow from West of Tallahassee over to Jacksonville. As of late morning 50-or-so-miles of I-10 east from Tallahassee was closed. We decided to depart around noon, and sure enough we were fueling at Midway FL (I-10 Exit 192 where US-90 crosses I-10), and got word I-10 had just opened. It was a blessing to see an Amber Alert Board lit up with "No Delays to Jacksonville." We saw a few small snow patches, ice in some trees, and a number of trees and branches down. We'd heard FDOT ordered spraying of bridges and overpasses with a saline solution. We saw a lot of white trace on the road surface in those areas.
In a few places, the shoulder was very wet and parts of the road were damp. Because of that, I'm glad we got through when we did. Suggest staying off the roads at night along with caution in the mornings. Till we stay above freezing and the precipitation stops. Can't see that "Black Ice" that's thin as a coat of paint and slippery as a greasy doorknob.
