Florida sun pass

We have portable sun pass that we use. My question is when you pull your camper do you have to enter that license plate as well or just the tow vechile. We have never pulled the camper on the toll road . Thank you can't find the exact answer on their webpage
  • You don't enter anything you drive thru and the camera spots what you are driving or towing automatically
  • Log into your Sun Pass account and enter the info and license number for your camper. I had a problem last year with Sun Pass and at that time they advised me to enter the license number. If you happen to go through an E-Z Pass toll both that system will track the license back to you account. Otherwise you will be billed as a pay by plate for the camper separate from your tow viechle.
  • Ok thank you you we will go to our account and enter the camper plate number as well. I wasn't sure thanks for the help.
  • When I registered, they wanted tow vehicle and tt license plates.

We have had a villa in Florida for the last 20 years, and what you said is they way we understood things too. With that said we had some transponder problems and had to call and talk to them. We had a rental car and the transponder just died. They told us to always make sure the rear plate (trailer, rental car what ever) is registered in their web site. Because if the transponder doesn't go off for any reason they take a picture of the rear plate. Then the first thing they do is compare it to their web site. If the plate is on their web site they just deduct a fare from that account and that's the end of it. If its not there then they hunt you down and send you a fine.

On that subject we got hit with two fines this year when we crossed over the Ohio river at Louisville on our trip down and back. We just drove down thinking business as usually, so we thought. We were in heavy traffic and didn't notice any signs that the new bridge over the Ohio river is now a toll bridge on I65. They also don't have any toll booths to bring it to your attention. We got 2 @ $4.00 fines in the mail. So now we have 2 transponders in our Yukon. Sometimes it feels like its becoming an Ala-cart world and we might have transponders hanging all over in the vehicle for every bridge we cross.
  • This is great info. I have had Sunpass for years but never had my camper's plate on my account. I ran into an issue with my car driving through Orlando on my way home from work where the transponder did not register. I received a letter in the mail with a picture of my car and a notice of non-payment of toll with a service charge. Turns out, this occurred just when I got new license plates in the mail and had just installed them on my vehicle, but had not updated my Sunpass account. I had to update the account and enter the effective date prior to when the toll "violation" occurred. That took care of it; but I never thought about towing the camper. My account is now updated. Thanks again for this info.
  • Yes it is good info and the way the state likes to get money better to find out and be correct then the other. The bad thing is can't find anything on the sunpass website about it
