You could pick up your RV in Boise ID, you could make a counter clockwise loop back to Boise. The rental would be cheaper and I think you could see everything on your list. The question is whether 2.5 weeks is enough time. You could spend several days in Yellowstone alone. We saw the Tetons in one day and Glacier in 2 days. Cruise America rents in Boise.
I think this may make sense. I've done a quick check on flight prices and they aren't too bad in/out of Boise.
What do you guys think about:
- Fly into Boise (SW has reasonable prices). Rent RV here.
- Head to Teton, then Yellowstone, Glacier, Over to Olympic, probably hit something in Oregon.
- Then head back over and fly out of Boise.
Seems to make a nice loop that won't kill us on timing.
I think this loop will severely limit your time at each destination. You will want to spend at least 5 days in the YNP area counting driving through the Tetons and then taking one overnight trip to the Cody, Wy area out the eastern entrance to YNP. Then more driving to Glacier for 3-4 days. It is a long way to Glacier to Olympia, WA (over 600 miles). If it were me I would probably go from Glacier over to the Lewiston, ID area for a day or two then head down to Hell's Canyon and back to Boise. You want to make sure you have time between destinations to stop to see other "spur of the moment" sites. I would save the Pacific Northwest for another vacation. Between Washington Oregon and driving the coastal highway you could easily spend a month or two here alone.
The kids will get tired if you're on the road too many hours at a time.
Anyway. Enjoy your trip and those kids!
