- WindInTheFaceExplorerThanks for the Fairview Riverside SP suggestion. But one of the main reasons we would like to stay at Fontainebleau is the Tammany Trace bike trail (which we will do when the weather improves!).
- rick_werthExplorerWe looked at Fontainebleau in February and found many of the site wet to very wet and only a few sites we would consider. Opted to stay at Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville. It also had wet sites, but it is in a great location to the Causeway, local restaurants and other activities. It is a smaller park and we stayed in the section near the river. Bathhouses very clean.
- Dannyabear1ExplorerYou could try Lakeview in Livingston or Cajun Palms in Henderson, both all cement so no mud.
- WindInTheFaceExplorerThanks everyone. On the "way back" sounds good.
- bgumExplorerToo much rain. Hit it on the way back.
- southernskyExplorerWill be lots of water between sites. Might be best to catch it on the way back.
- DwnSthExplorerMay have better weather further west Thursday and Friday. Also consider Tickfaw and Bogue Chitto state parks in the same area. Fontainebleau is best for access to N.O. other two a bit more off the beaten path but nice parks. Well probably pass on I12 somewhere, headed to Pensacola Friday - even with the rainy weather.
- WindInTheFaceExplorerThanks for the reply. We are headed from Ft. Walton Beach to Laredo, so maybe we should skip that park on the way to Texas and stop there on the way back.
- DwnSthExplorerI-12 and 190 to the park are fine. The Causeway to N.O. was closed for heavy rains earlier today. Not sure about conditions at the Fontainebleau. Local weather is predicting pretty good rain Thursday and Friday so drive carefully. Rains should be letting up for weekend with great weather next week.
