Cipro is a travel companion that one does not take unless it's needed. A good traveler should ask their doctor for a cipro prescription prior to visiting foreign lands. Its a very low cost drug and
very effective against intestinal bugs.
One can dehydrate very quickly with the runs. I've personally know a couple of people that have been hospitalized for iv fluids. And others that needed doctor visits and then could not go far from a toilet until the drugs took effect.
It's a heck of a way to spend one's travel time.
