Food Storage

We're new to the TT world, having spent the last 16 years enjoying popup camping.

With all our new possibilities come some new questions. Here's one: now that we CAN keep things stored in the camper, SHOULD we? In particular - food items. On one hand it seems like it might be nice to have a pretty complete "pantry" full of the non-perishable foods we will need. The idea of having it all in there ready to go is pretty appealing to me. But the DW is starting to worry that doing that would attract rodents. I guess I can see her point if you're going to have a lot of opened packages of nice-smelling cereals, chips, and so on. But why not unopened stuff? What about something like peanut butter? My thinking is that the packaging would prevent infestations, but she's pretty concerned.

I'm interested to know what you more-experienced folks do about this? Keep it well-stocked? Keep it stocked only with things like canned and bottled foods/drinks? Keep nothing in it until you're packing up for a trip?

Thanks in advance.
