Navegator hit it square on the head. In the real not tourist Mexico if I should peer through the door at 2:00 PM and see few customers most of which are drinking coffee I shuffle off to bufalo.
Po City? Food? Anything eaten in Po City met a blood alcohol content of .020 near embalming strength. I would gorge on sliders at the NCO club before walking across the bridge.
An overwhelming percentage of my relatively few stomach complaints in Mexico have been simple acid stomach. Cured with just plain baking soda and water.
I grew weary of purified well water. Well water heated to tepid temperature mixed with No Es Cafe forced me eat three bars of Carlos V chocolate in the morning for my caffeine fix. We had navy standard # 6 coffee in South east asia. Pour a cup and stand a spoon up in the center of the cup? Bitter? Oh wait a minute, someone screed up and didn't toss in some salt while it was brewing.
Mexico has come a looooooooong way in the drinking water and coffee quality department.
Speaking of which a few weeks ago a COSTCO coffee sample was given to me. Taster's Choice FRENCH ROAST instant. I grimaced, then swilled it. Waitaminute! This is good! The French Roast is quite a bit more expensive than regular TC but unless my taste buds were hypnotized this stuff is worth a second look. Would make for acceptable in a rush on the road caffeine fix it seemed to taste better than McDonalds or Oxxo. Time will tell.
Highwayside chicken places in Sinaloa are good places to grab a bite provided there is an acceptable grade slope for a rig to park off the shoulder.
If a restaurant sign contains one word of INGLES it is blackballed. I would rather eat a foam cup of Maruchen then walk into MARIO'S SURF & TURF. While scarfing coffee at a local CARL'S JR. I priced a king size hamburger combo at 181 pesos. Almost ten dollars (in your dreams). I needed a restroom break and felt guilty about not buying anything. Everything sold in those joints are taxed 16%. But the bathrooms are clean, have TP and toilet seats! And hand soap. And towels and blowers. Will wonders never cease.
