Fort Benning to Panama City

Not sure about 165. We've made that trip dozens of times, but never did that road. Instead, we always took US-431 south, which is a great road. No problems with overpasses, or any other road hazards on 431 or 231.

Going through Eufaula 431 gets a little narrow as it goes through a residential area with beautiful old southern homes, but absolutely no problem. Then over a bumpy railroad crossing, keep following your nose south to Dothan, around on 431 (which is ugly, but tolerable) to US-231. There's a Pilot at the 431/231 junction if you need gas. Then it's smooth sailing on 231 all the way down to I-10. We then usually do a short hop on I-10 to the west to Exit 85 (US-331) and take that south (over the "mid-bay bridge" I think it's called) and we're on US-98. US-98 is U-G-L-Y ugly through Destin (outlet malls, T-shirt shops, tourist things, etc.) but such is the price of getting to the gulf coast.
