from bristol to richmond

Why leave Bristol so early, it's only a 5 hr drive to Richmond.

Richmond is our favorite track.... the only issue with April is it is hit or miss for the temps... You will love it..

They lost a TON of fans and money when they put it to Sunday.. I was talking with Dennis ( RIR President ) and he was sorry he did that..

It was so hot, we went through 6 of the 40# propane bottles for our AC, and we went to the local Costco and got a blow up pool. paid the water guy to fill it

We just picked up a spot in the Medallion Campground, D section for the August race, is it any good there? It shows as full hook ups with 50amp..

We are in Start Your Engine private CG at Bristol. Full hookups. They will allow an extra night for no charge so we can tow straight to Richmond. Our first year at this campground. We have stayed at the 50amp hookup above the Bristol drag strip but missed a year and lost our spot.
Depends on how close you want to get to Richmond. The COE's at Kerr are decent. We were there there last year. Our site was unlevel front to back but workable.
We have also used 421 east. There were some twisty sections in the mountains with drop offs on the inside radius of the turns to watch for. We stayed at Tanglewood Park at Clemmons just south of Winston Salem. A beautiful multi purpose park. Some sites are unlevel.
This year we are staying at Pocahontas State Park just out of Richmond after the race. You might try them for just before the race. Looks good, we haven't stayed there before though. Several easy looking pull throughs.

If your going to take 58 east, try Kerr reservoir. Several COE campgrounds and Occoneechee State Park. About 4 1/2 to 5 hours east of Bristol and 3 hours south of Richmond via I-85
Beautiful drive , go slow around Meadows of Dan, lovers leap is a sharp curve.

Thanks will look into it. Not sure where we are camping my buddy made all the plans.
