We did the CR 12 drive this past summer from Marble to Crested Butte. It might be closed now for the winter, but it was an AWESOME drive. I was in my pickup and my sister and BIL were in a Jetta station wagon and they are able to handle the drive with no problem.
INCREDIBLE scenery that you won't get a chance to observe from a highway. It took us probably about 3-4 hours just because we stopped so many times to take pics.
