And you don't see squat from the new bridge due to the solid sidewalls being so tall.
You do in a Class A:) Amazing View - FOREVER_FREEExplorerWe were lucky enough to visit Hoover Dam prior to 911. Took the "Hardhat Tour" and it was amazing. We were able to stand at the bottom of the dam and look up to the top and only imagine how much water was being held back. You automatically started looking for leaks. It gives you a good understanding why they don't allow it anymore. Drove across the dam years ago and even though spectacular you need to see it from the inside to really appreciate this architectural wonder.:)
- TheDingyExplorerI was over it both ways this weekend and it is fine to drive anything across that you want to no security etc.
- FDHExplorerThanks to all who replied. This helps so much.
- dkreuzenExplorerI have been over it many times. You will see High Wind warning signs but not to worry the Wind signs seem to be permanent. I have yet to encounter noticeable Wind, just be in the left lane as the signs tell you too.
- caverNomadI was there a couple weeks ago. The parking is mostly on the AZ side according to the security that looked at my camper and truck. If you take an RV over to the parking (and across the dam) you will have to open it up along with storage compartments. Just in case anyone following the thread might want to take a tour like I did.

No traffic can cross the dam.... From the AZ side, you will cross over the new bridge, only about one year old. From the Nevada side, you can reach the dam for tours, ETC, but that is it. That new bridge is really something, and you can walk on it.
Drove down to the dam in February to look around after walking to center of the new bridge. We drove across the dam and up to the top of the ridge for an excellent view of both the dam and the bridge. - pauljExplorer IIGoogle's streetview car was able to see over the rails

Look at Hoover Dam on Google maps, satellite view. You'll see the new bypass bridge is part of Hwy 93. I'll be going across it for the first time in July. Last time I went across the dam, they were in the middle of building the bridge. It was an awesome site to see the half-way built bridge from the dam.
