- HeisenbergExplorerFunTwoDrv ... I used it last week. It was a nice cut to I25 South for us coming home from Yellowstone.
The Interstate can get old, everyone is in a hurry. - Fleet_ManExplorerIf you like good baked goods, Wheat Montana just west of Three Forks, MT at mile marker 274 is a good place to stop. Fuel available on both sides of I-90, Pilot on the south side and Sinclair next to the bakery.
RV park behind the bakery and a privatized old KOA south of the Pilot. Boondocking at Pilot also.
Costco in Billings for fuel. Not the easiest to access but it is do able. - FunTwoDrvExplorerHeisenberg, we actually did take 287 last year when we went fron Estes Park to Salt Lake City. Really a nice drive up to I80!
Gary - HeisenbergExplorerBoy I messed that one up!
- FunTwoDrvExplorerWinds! We fought them through Kansas on our way out in May...while in Estes Park, we have been greeted by them pretty much every day.
As you mentioned, maybe they will be pushing us this timeLOL!

Tuesday finds us in Ft Collins. We're headed to Spokane via the route noted overnighting in Buffalo, Wy and Butte, Mt. Any words of wisdom reletive to this route? We're in a moho with a toad... all new territory for us.
Thanks,
Gary
I've been up to Buffalo and it's not a bad drive at all. Wyoming, as you are probably aware, is a whole big empty. And wind will be a constant companion in places, notably the area from the state line to Cheyenne as well as the area north of Casper up to Buffalo. Fortunately, this time of year, prevailing winds will likely be from the south/southwest rather than northwest. And Buffalo offers some good camping locales, both in town and in the outlying area. - IDmanExplorerThere is a nice grassy rest area at Chugwater, complete with shelters, restroom, and a free dump station.
- FunTwoDrvExplorerGreat suggestions...thanks for the quick feedback. We're looking forward to this leg of our adventure!
Thanks again,
Gary - Corky12ExplorerMissouri Headwaters SP near Three FORKS, MT and Lewis and Clark Caverns SP near Cardwell MT are camping possibilities. L&C has electric sites, showers, dump station, and water spigots. The Bradford Brinton Art Museum near Story, WY is wonderful. The Little Bighorn Battlefield NM at Crow Agency, MT is worth a stop as is the World Museum of Mining in Butte. Deerlodge MT has the Old Mt State Prison, a car museum, a toy museum and the Grant - Kohrs Ranch NHS.
Both I25 and I90 are decent roads. Be aware of your fuel gauge, there are some long stretches with no services. The mountain passes are fairly quick up and downs - nothing to worry about.
Wyoming and Montana have lots of history to explore if one has the time. Enjoy your journey - TexasShadowExplorer IIyour route is fine. Buffalo is a good place to stop. The Custer's last stand memorial is just north of the Montana State line. At Three Rivers, MT, you're at the beginning of the Missouri River.
ooops! I mean Three Forks, MT. :)
