Fuel Prices

It looks like the glut is going to become a biblical grade flood.

Australia is fracking crude and is set to increase production two thousand percent. That would be enough to feed China, Taiwan, and Japan by itself.

Russia has not even come on line yet. I wrote on this forum several years ago about a Russian petro geologist who claimed Russia has FOUR QUADRILLION BARRELS of economically viable recoverable crude. Brazil is developing an offshore find with more oil in it than all of the middle east reserves combined.

And everyone is cash starved. Does not bode well for greedy major petroleum speculators like the Bank of Quebec.

It may well be the price of west texas intermediate crude is going to be tested at fifty dollars a barrel before long. I cannot foresee a reason why the benchmark price of crude cannot end up in the thirty dollar range.

If the disparity between USA and Mexican combustibles reaches a certain price differential this point is going to become a volatile political issue. Vamos a ver. Interesting times are a coming...

$3.59 a gallon for Unocal/Conoco 76 diesel in Los Angeles today. Wondering how long it will last, think I should buy 500 gallons.

Actually the increases are due to end within a month or two. The news in Mexico has had several articles pointing this fact out. The increases were agreed to by the Mexican Congress several years ago for a specific period of time., It is not like President Nieto can pick up the phone and increase fuel costs.

My guess and it is a very uneducated one , is that the Pres of Mex will keep to the plan of constant increases Fuel will increase in CANUS shortly when the current crises of Ebola and ISIS get sorted out a bit and stop being front page news. I have restricted my CBC newsworld and CNN time to less than 2 hrs a day instead of 10 which was another component of me being driven crazy.

Unfortunately the fuel burned getting there would eat up the savings. The Texaco station here dropped diesel to$3.899 yesterday.

Comistibles sales is a fat tax cash cow. Hacienda raised IVA sales tax in Frontera zones from 11% to 16%

I have never seen the price of comistibles decrease in Mexico, ever...

Magna.............$ 13.13 pesos per liter
Premium..........$ 13.89 pesos per liter
Diesel..............$ 13.72 pesos per liter

Casa de Cambio exchange houses were selling pesos for 13.014 to the dollar last Friday at San Ysidro, and BanaMex ATM rendered 13.133 pesos per dollar minus 23.82 pesos service charge per transaction. BanComer exchange rate was 13.160 per dollar. ATM service charge 81.30 pesos per transaction.
