Looks like a great trip! Our experience over the past 12 years is that family travel in the West starts around mid June, peaks quickly, and then slows in mid August. As a single RVer, you should be able to find camping spots even in crowded areas--but it may cost more in some cases. So much to see and do in that area of the US, you will probably have to plan a return trip!
