Well, that may well be, but you can't get to the Skywalk from the North Rim. Or from the east end of the GC, either.
I believe Mandalay Parr was trying to say to skip the Skywalk and instead, do the South Rim or North Rim.
This is exactly would I would recommend. The Skywalk is very expensive and you have a limited time to walk on it and then are shooed off. It's not even overlooking the canyon but instead - a side canyon.
You'd have a greater experience by visiting the 'real' Grand Canyon in the National Park. You can stay as long as you want and get many different viewpoints.
Also, definitely walk down the Bright Angel Trail if only for 1/8 mile or so. It will give you a whole new perspective on the Canyon. It's awesome!
