Thank you all for the advice. Rte 26 is tempting but the snow worries me. We are coming from south Florida and where snow is, let's say rare.
Three years ago we were caught in a snow storm in a high pass in CO and I was worried: reduced visibility and poor tracking.
But I travel for the scenery . . . snow along the road is fine, I"ll check the weather forecast.
