Great way to say goodbye to Alaska!
We've run down Cassiar, and did the right turn onto 37A into Stewart, BC. The drive from 37 turnoff to Stewart, BC is now in our top 4 for Wow factor. (We drove in the rain all day from the nice Moutain Shadow RV park, just South of Dease Lake. But as we turned off onto 37A, the rain stopped. Still wet, and lots of clouds. But, we think the clouds and heavy mist rolling off of the rivers, with a few glaciers, and grizzly bears tossed in for good measure, and just a few (Like 10-12 good size waterfalls.) - really made this drive to Stewart something special!
A day trip to check the Bears at Fish Creek. We saw one grizzly, but each time we visited, was not prime time, and it is early in the season... Then a great drive to Salmon Glacier.
We came 'Over the border, on almost a 1st name basis with the Canadian Border Agent from Alaska for the last time on this trip!!!
We ended the day with a great stashed bottle of Earthquake Zin, and dinner from a surprise place - dash Bristro! We got the food to go, so we could celebrate with our dawg too... This place is in a 'roach coach' (Not, very nice set up, and two class people running the place.) This was the best meal we've had on the trip - and totally a surprise to us, as I chose it by luck.
I have to give dash Bristo TWO THUMBS UP! If any of you stop on your 'Good bye to Alaska' on the Southern travels. Please tell them that Smitty (With a Amarillo connection.) said - Thanks for the great meal!!!
Travel safe, and for us, we'll continue to enjoy BC on our way down to the states!
