Harrisburg Pa to Manassas Va via Rt 15

We would normally take the highway but this looks like a slightly shorter route. How is the road? Many stop lights, towns or more of a mini high way road?
40' plus toad. We find the lights aren't timed for big rig stopping on roads, and hence the question.
Thank you,
Nancy

yep you will run into three of those circles on 15 and since they are relatively new, the drivers are not quite used to using them smoothly or correctly/legally. generally where they are two lane, the left inside lane is the one that doesn't disappear upon exiting the circle.

    Thank you all.
How about 17 from 81 to 66? Better?

probably less traffic, than around Leesburg. if you come down 15 just before you get to Frederick there is a reduced speed area with radar, etc. so drop it down to 50 like the signs say.

  • US 15 from Harrisburg to the Maryland State Line is mostly 4 lane limited access highway.
There are a few traffic lights in the Dillsburg, PA area.

Pretty busy passing through Leesburg, lots of stop-n-go there. Otherwise it was fine, but not a high speed route.

take the bypass around Leesburg to the East. IIRC only two lights. 45 mph limit moves OK.

  • 15 would be mostly 2 lane but certainly better than 270 and the beltway etc.
