Have you kite surfers at the lakes?

This is what I am talking about :)

Most of you regularly camp around lakes - have you seen any kite surfers and where?

  • There were some on Lake Ontario at Burlington over the weekend - very often they are on the Bay side of Hamilton. You can reach a viewing area by following signs for Canada Centre for Inland Waters. They surf there many months of the year regardless of the weather temps. Crazy folks but they seem to be having a great time.
  • I've heard that Sauble Beach is the place to be for kite surfers.
  • Thanks for the advice! It can be dangerous in many ways although after inventing the quick release, it is much less dangerous, but you need the experience and moreover - a good teacher in the beginning, to cover all safety steps and incident tactics.

Be sure to stay waaaay far away from their lines. When under pressure, they are razor sharp and very dangerous, and even moreso when being handled by an inexperienced kiter because the kite becomes extremely unpredictable.
  • There are regularly kite surfers at Kincardine ON on Lake Huron. PM me if you would like more info.

Thanks, that clears it up for members to reply. I had already begun deleting posts about kite surfing at some US locations no where near your route.

  • I am interested to see kite surfers at some lake on the route Toronto - Calgary. We will be passing by so many lakes, I really hope that there are some surfers there...
