There is a reason they call them National Parks .
Mesa Verde ,Arches , Grand Canyon , Yosemite , Crater Lake , Yellowstone , are favorites .
For civilized stuff get the book "Road Trip, USA " .
The book gives interesting places to visit by using US Highways such as US 66 , US 20 , and so forth .
We had a great time almost exclusiveley following the US 20 and it attractions from Oregon to Maine as reccommended in the book .
We stayed off the freeways which added to the scenery .
We visited at least one attraction per day .
That also helped us choose camp spots less commercialized .
