Heading north, which crossing at Laredo

Hello,

We are in Villahermosa tonight on our way north. Coming south, we crossed at Columbia which worked well, but I recall reading the trip north is much more difficult for RV's and Bridge #2 is the best way to go.

Is this correct? We normally cross at Eagle Pass, but we did see the advantages of crossing at Laredo in the amount of time it saved getting to Saltillo.

Gracias
Rob

  • Stay in the far right lane on Blvd Luis Donaldo Colosio. It starts out as a 2 lane road, then goes to three lane as you get closer to the bridge. It may even go to a forth lane.Stay as far RIGHT as you can. That far right lane will take you UNDER the bridge to the Aduana. All other lanes go over the bridge. After turning in your paper work, turn right on the same road you came in on.That portion of the road is TWO way.You will cross Luis D.going back the way you came from.In about 1/4 of a mile do the returno and now stay in one of the left lanes.after paying the bridge toll move into the far right lane and cross the bridge. That will put you at the right US Customs booth to go straight into X-ray.
  • Is immigration in the middle lane after the hard right? Where to turn in document and get passport stamped?
  • Bridge #2 is easy for RV's. Returning the sticker is easy, as said earlier, bear right, follow the river and it's almost under the bridge. When you're done take a hard right and stay in the middle lane - the far right lane is the wrong one to be in - ask me how I know...
  • We always went the extra 1/2 hour to the Columbia Bridge- no problems whatsoever with a big rig. We have crossed at #2 in our car- not sure if I would do it with the RV...a little cramped for space IMO.
  • We crossed at #2 in April. Very easy to return paperwork and cross. Stay all the way to your right and go under the bridge to imigration to do your paper work. Back out the way you came 1/4 mile or so, U-turn and cross over the bridge to inspection. Again stay right for RVs/Buse lane. Secondary xray (or whatever they call it) is straight up from there. All but driver exit the rig and its over in 10 minutes. All agents both sides of the border were very professional and courtious
