Heading north, which crossing at Laredo

We crossed Saturday. They have a little booth and two staff at Laredo. They stick a little green piece of paper under your wiper to "remind" you to declare.

Didn't think about it but on reflection we crossed on the weekend....maybe that's why no revenuers :-)

We used to go through customs at 2AM - Texas's alcohol tax collectors didn't work 3 shifts... they might now.

When we crossed in April we had the usual(for us anyway) RV load of booze. Never heard of the Texas booze tax. We don't declare and they didn't ask. We were xrayed only, no on board search.....just lucky I guess

Thanks for all the info. Being in the far right lane after the bridge was very good advice. Was able to drive straight into x-ray from that lane.

As posted above those booths, which I spent hours trying to figure out what they might be for, were empty.

We crossed today (Saturday) at around 1:00. Only spent about 20 minutes in line, but the search, xray and another search made it a one hour adventure.

Another note, the Texas booze tax, which only used to be a few cents has increased greatly. We paid $3.25 a bottle for the bottles of wine we brought into Texas.

Gracias again, we are very appreciative of this board and the clever people who hang out here.

The first one was closed when we went by a month ago. I have seen vehicle permits turned in at these booths years ago, but they were not staffed at 2PM Sunday March 24.
Stay out of the far right lane. After taking the hard right from the government offices where you turn in the permit the far right lane is the wrong one to be in....

I'm looking at the google map shot of Laredo bridge 2. What are the booths right before the bridge on the MX side. I assume the second one is the toll booth, what is the first booth for?

It has a sign related to returning your permit.

Thanks from me also for the information. I remember very well the xray of the RV several years ago at this location. We must have been the 1st ones to have our RV xrayed because the xray guys couldn't understand why we had been sent there, and we were not xrayed the year before. We were there for over 3 1/2 hours...me standing out in +38 degree celsius, swatting mosquitoes until after mid-night. By the time Paul emerged, after all that idling, we were out of gas! One of our finer "RV moments"! This time we will be crossing just in our car, so hopefully things will go smoothly and quickly.
