I've tried every "trick" in the book going thru or around Atlanta. Going around on 285 just makes the misery longer. Going thru and staying out of the right hand lane doesn't work because it exits soon and you're back in the right hand lane again. 10 O'clock on Sunday morning doesn't work because not everybody is in church. I've tried following long haul truckers, but many of them are dropping something off or picking something up in Atlanta, so you lose your cover. I'm single, so I can't drive in the HOV lanes. And I can't merge because nobody wants to let a 'C' pulling a toad get in front of them. I've even considered going south in the summer and north in the winter, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose.
So I take I-65 south out of Nashville to Mobile and turn left if I'm headed for the panhandle or I-40 and I-26 out of Knoxville to I-95 and turn right for the Atlantic coast. I-95 has a lot of traffic, but they peel off as they reach their destinations.
