heading south saturday hows the roads

heading south from New Hampshire to Disney on saturday morning early.hows the roads conditions..construction ? rough..? I usually take 93 south..495..90..84..91..95..287..jersey turnpike..95..rest of the way..and I take the bypasses around Baltimore..DC..and Richmond..any up dates.Been that way recently..??
  • There's a better way to go... I495, I90, I84, I81, I77, I26, I95. I have been making the trip for 45 years this by far the best way to go. Watch the weather, if there is snow or ice in the Scranton area of 81 bail-out in Newburg, NY and take I287-I78 (toll Rd) back on to 81. There is a great KOA CG in Jonestown (Lickdale)PA. open year round (its just a mile north of the 78/81 junction). Yes, its a 100 miles further, but the time, tolls and fuel you save will be worth it.

BTW: Jonestown KOA has the best fried chicken and will deliver it to your door. What a way to end your first day on the road.
  • Just returned from NJ to Myrtle Beach 5 days ago. Roads were fine, but traffic, as always, was awful. There is some construction on 301 (to miss 95 through Baltimore and DC) but no real delays. Of course, this was the week between Christmas and New Years when traffic is lighter. Always a backup at Del Mem Bridge - try to avoid during commuter times. 95 South of Petersburg, Va all the way through the rest of VA, NC and northern SC was fine. Safe trip.

I left a week ago for Sarasota.... The roads themselves were fine , traffic sucked!! I think you will be fine with the traffic.. No major construction between where you get on 95 , and Jacksonville where I exited...
