In this case you will destroy your trip! Because it's those guys with the badges at the border that want to see you 'permission slip' and without it you are not going to cross the border!
And if you have a registration that doesn't show a "Legal Owner" or "Lien Holder" and you don't bother to tell the lien holder that you are going across the border, and they found out, they can demand the full amount owed or turn in the vehicle. Just saying read the fine print on your contract!
