Arizona - easiest place to return vehicle permit?

Thanks all - I ended up returning it at the Anzalduas Bridge in Mission Texas.

Watched the border wait times, which became increasingly shorter by Christmas eve- left all food & alcohol at the campground, breezed over on Christmas eve - there's a "drive through" Banjercito as soon as you enter Mexico - less than an hour all told, campground to campground.

Part of my confusion stemmed from googling the lists of crossings with Banjercitos on the web.Neither Anzalduas or the one in New Mexico are listed.

There is no deposit on a 10 year permit.

Since they take your credit card and you leave a deposit to ensure you return with your vehicle, if you fail to do so, you might find that you are out of the deposit. And, yes, the permit alone will not suffice. They have to verify it and they check out the VIN against the number of the permit. This can be done at kilometer 21.

Thanks - that seems like a plan - except it may all be moot - after tearing apart all my old papers, I can't find the paperwork that goes with the sticker! (it was 9 years ago & for the last 8 years I've had my RV in Europe, but still, I'm certain I had kept them somewhere safe - maybe so safe that even I can't locate them! :-(

There is a very nice state park in Columbus, only 2 miles to the border. It is Pancho Villa SP and they have a very interesting museum at the SP pertaining to the history of the Pancho Villa raid into the US at Columbus and the US answer to his foray. That is where we stay when we are visiting the area. Make sure you make a stop at the "Pink Palace" for a drink and dinner. It is kitty corner from the Customs/Immigration office.

I really think that you will NOT have a problem without the paperwork, just complicate the turn in a little. I would still go and turn it in and get your return receipt for the permit.

We followed those directions. Didn't work.
So, we worked around it.
The new moho has it's permit in my name.
We renewed our passports, and next time, it can go back on his.
We finally gave up on trying to cancel the old permit.

The process is described in this thread. You are about to enter Bureaucratic Hell. Mexico will not accept your word that the unit is in the USA and has been sold. There is a special form that I posted about 2 years ago. I will see if I can find it. They require proof that you sold the old unit. Not fun.

There is more to it.
You can only have one 10 year permit in your name. We tried to cancel ours from the US, couldn't. Put the new coach with it's 10 year permit in the other name on the registration.
