There are companies (I use that term loosely) that actually research the registration of vehicles traveling in Mexico and send notification to the lienholder. They say that for a small fee they will locate and repossess the vehicle if necessary. When I was in banking, we did match that information up with the borrower and if it was an expensive piece of equipment and a borrower we had little experience with, we would follow up on that information. I guarantee your loan documents prohibit you taking the vehicle into any foreign country excluding Canada. I you were a new customer and had only made a couple of payments we were aggressive in verification and even repossessed a couple. Forgiveness was not an option.
