Hermosillo bypass

2nd year going into Mexico. Last year I missed the bypass and had a lovely drive through the city!!!!!!! Almost had an accident on my fist day!
I have the Churches book and will look for the Pemex stations noted a little closer this time. My question is.......do I make a LEFT from the main road OR do I have to get into a lateral to make that turn????
When I missed it last year...a little tense at the wheel...I didn't notice how that turn was to be made.
Could someone give me a little guidance?

  • Be cautious on that bypass. Lots of cops looking for a "bonus".

  • No using laterals in Hermosillo, just make the left. There is construction work, as always, so the road has changed just a bit.
The Church's book is old enough that there is a big change.
Here are 3 options: Follow the Church's directions with these three changes. Shortly after your left turn, the construction begins, and traffic is one lane each say. There will be a detour sign, and you will be turned right. Then, very shortly, a left (unmarked), then very shortly, a left (unmarked). Then you are back on their directions. Then, at the end, when you had to get in the left lane to make a left as your last turn, there is now a nice overpass. You need to be in the right lane, not going onto the overpass. At the light underneath them, you turn left, and you are golden.
Option 2: Fall in behind a truck and follow them.
Option 3: Hire a taxi as you enter town, and have them lead you through. Might cost you all of 60p.
    It's not hard, just relax.
  • San Carlos and South
This year we are going to Mazatlan,Tepic, Villa Corona,Guadalajara, Mazimitla, down to the Coast and then slowly head North
Stops in Laguna del Tule, Boca Beach,Lo de Marcos,Celastino,Hautabampito, and San Carlos again before heading back to the USA
  • Check what we posted on Tepic yesterday. We'll leave here en la manana.
You can spot us by our two weimaraners!
  • Talleyho....thank you for your bypass info....changes are always happening....part of the excitement in Mexico. We will have to stop in Tepic after leaving Mazatlan on our way to Villa Corona. We saw some Huichol art in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle last year....very colorful beadwork.
  • There was a detour a few days ago when I went through. No big deal though.
