Hermosillo Campground

We are currently in San Carlos Sonora and will be going to Hermosillo tomorrow afternoon. We are in need of some advice on campgrounds around Hermosillo for an overnight stay. We drove down from Phoenix in one day and now realize that is more miles per day than we are comfortable with. We wouldn't mind parking lot boondocking if the location is safe. Safe is the key word. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
RichH
  • I suggest you continue on to Santa Ana and stay in the rv park there. It is on the left just north of the pedestrian overpass not well marked but it is there.

    safe travels

Thanks for the response Bob. We just waited until Tuesday and drove straight through. Tiring but effective.

  • Also there is a water park on the North Perefico that will or has allowed dry camping in their parking lot. I used it a lot in the past.
  • Santa Ana is north of San Carlos.

There are a couple of good Pemex along the highway that have good night security.

Also, as of last spring, there was the park just at the leading edge of Hermosillo that had reopened by demand. Search for it on this site.
  • He said he was closing the park but might open if you call and ask.

  • Good morning to all......My name is Fausto owner of the Sonora RV Park in Hermosillo. Due to the Artificial Grass Business and the decreasing numbers of RV's coming to Mexico, I"m sorry to inform you that the RV Park it is closed.....I thank all of you for all this years.....
  • So is there a campground in Hermosillo that I could stay at for a couple nights?
  • There are no CG's in Hermosillo or even close. There is a good truck stop if you are heading North. It is one mile North of the Magdalena toll booth. On your left. Large lot and very safe. If you are heading South San Carlos is the closest to HMO. Or you could head West to Kino Bay. Lots of CG's with lots of space available! The road is 3 lanes wide and was just partially repaved. One of the best roads in Mexico! It has been in the 90's. **** hot.
