No, I'd never carry a weapon into Canada via automobile or Cruise Ship. But just the "thought" if the border guards even suspect anything, they'll tear your camper apart limb-for-limb ... even if nothing is there?
We crossed from Canada into the USA at a BC border crossing years ago, late in the evening. The sniffer dog was on duty and it gave us a quick once over prompting the US officials to tell us to pull over for a full search. We waited inside for an hour while they went through the motorhome.
Yup, they found the contraband and came back to the customs building with the confiscated goods. A bag of California oranges. BUT they left the grapefruit, bananas, tomatoes, apples and other fruit.
We were on our way to one of my rowing competitions, with my rowing shell on the roof of the motorhome, and DH had his trials bike on the front bumper. Guess we looked like an odd couple trying to sneak over the border at 11 pm.
Although, maybe the dog detected an old scent from my brother-in-laws firearm - we shared the motorhome with them. He's an RCMP officer.
