- 2gypsies1Explorer III191 is o.k. for RVs...many do it. Just a heads up you'll have a steep downhill into Vernal. Get in low gear at the top before you head down and you'll be just fine.
We stayed at Fireman's national forest campground at Flaming Gorge - very nice huge sites; dry camping. It's on the rim overlooking Flaming Gorge reservoir.
We've also used Steinaker State Park at the bottom of the hill of 191.
Dinosaur Nat'l Mon. also has a nice campground.
The town of Vernal isn't much.
Sounds like you'll be having a nice trip! - rocmocExplorerCamped in the Green River CG at Dino Nat Mont two weeks ago. River is running at max so the Bugs were really bad. Only stayed one night and moved on up to Flaming Gorge. Did enjoy the Dino bone wall. Arrive early as the campground was full before dusk, even the first come side.
rocmoc n AZ/Fld/Baja - caysea7254ExplorerThanks everyone for all the great info! We were looking at the route on google earth but there is no way to see the grades. So that route will be fine for us. The campground by green river looks beautiful!!! We drove scenic route 12 in Utah and didn't have any problems. Our motto" never be in a hurry! Life goes by too fast!! Also we will check out Fossil Rv park in Vernal. Thanks to all of you again! Tara :)

X2. There are 10 switchbacks in the 9 mile descent. Most are posted at 20MPH. Some of the grade is as steep as 8%. You can not start down too slow, but you can get going too fast. Take your time.
...be careful on the steep descent above Vernal... - donkeydewExplorergood road, very scenic.
fossil valley rv park in vernal is a real gem. - BusskipperExplorer

Just wondering if this is a good road to pull a 36ft. 5th wheel? On our way back home from Teton & Yellowstone vacation we would like to stop by Dinosaur National monument. Opinions please. Thanks Tara
Great road just be sure your mirrors are in adjustment - some of the traffic really rolls.
In the Park there is a great little, no hook up, park, on the Green River inside the park.
You will love it, - lbrjetExplorerMake sure you stop at the Red Canyon vistor center off rt 44. Just a 12 mile round trip detour and well worth it. We towed your proposed route last year and had no problems.
- RoyFExplorer191 is no problem, but be careful on the steep descent above Vernal. We've also taken Hwy 530 west of Flaming Gorge, and it has very nice scenery.
