Highway 491 Northwest New Mexico
Be forewarned!
If your travels include 491 between Gallup & Shiprock NM take note that this stretch of highway has gotten worse as each day passes. Between Yá’át’ééh (turn off to Window Rock Az.) & Tohatchi, the road is still under construction to add lanes. The existing lanes have been dug up, re-patched and dug up a re-patched again. It'll bounce ya around prety good, so if you can totally avoid this road, be advised to do so. On the same level as a wash board dirt road.
