Have done it with our rig and toad, so yes it is doable with a big rig. As previous posters have said, if you are not comfortable with serious mountain driving, then stay off the section from Ouray to Silverton. The 2 pictures by jnjnkatiebug are tame if you consider the first 5 miles out of Ouray.
