HiWay 75 North - Topeka KS to Nebraska City

We are on our 3 month road trip across from Washington State to Virginia by way of Utah, Kentucky, then on up to Ontario Canada and have circled the Great Lakes .. are winding down to the Midwest section now .. the next day or two will be in Topeka Kansas for a couple of weeks ...

We are in a 3/4 Suburban towing our 19 ft. travel trailer .. no slides, no children and no pets. Has been a good trip so far seeing family & friends along the way ... as well as some areas we have always wanted to see.

Anyway, looking at our routing this morning and wondering if taking HiWay 75 North out of Topeka KS to Nebraska City is maybe better mileage wise than going around onto I-29 and going North ..

However not sure how that section of highway is nor how much longer it would take us rather than I-29.

From what Google gives me there is construction along I-29 (what else is new as when else are they able to do that work except during the summer) ...

Our destination spot for that early evening is Onawa IA ..

Know you all have been most helpful in the past ... thank you.

  • US 75 north of Topeka to Nebraska City is a good road. We always take that road when coming or going north. It saves a lot of miles over taking I29 to KC and catching I35. In KS 75 is a super two road, two lanes with wide shoulders. In Nebraska it is a good two lane road but does not have as wide shoulders. Traffic just north of Topeka to Holton (and casino) can be heavy during rush hour but it does move along.
