I have one of those carboys surrounded by thick wire rod. This water is purified with ozone so it is sterile and it stays that way because the ozone gas kills pathogens inside the tank when the lid is tight. I do have an R/O at home a seagoing VILLAGE system but it uses 22 amps at 12 volts and produces 26 gallons per day. We must be doing something right because we gain two swarms per year.
I chained all of the hives together with square link manganese steel security chain and 11 gauge 6" square 316 stainless steel. Impervious to anything but a diamond saw. Honeybee thievery is big business down here.
