How is Tracfone and/or Virgin Mobile internet service

Planning my June, 2013 trip to Alaska and have some connectivity questions: I have a Tracfone that I use here in the States, and was wondering if it works in Canada and on the way up through Alaska...

Along the Alaska Highway, there is cellular service only in the communities.

Fort St John Fort Nelson, Watson Lake and Whitehorse have 4G, as does Dawson City on the Klondike Highway.

For the other communities you must have a CDMA compatible phone.

The infrastructure is a bit behind the times here.
