- navegatorExplorerThe hoy no circula is only enforced in the Estado de Mexico and the Distrito Federal, the Arco Norte is made to by pass the congested Federal district, no enforcement there.
navegator - navegatorExplorerIf you are going to go from 57D to 150D consider going on the Arco Norte that by passes Mexico City all together the Arco Norte crosses the 57D just after the town of San Francisco Soyaniquilpan it is labeled M40D (Mexico M40D de Cuota) and it takes you to the 150D around the town of San Martin Texmelucan de la Bastia in the State of Puebla.
navegator - Wm_ElliotExplorerThank you Navegator for a very detailed answer. It's a pretty complex system to understand. Is there enforcement on the quota (57D to 150D) on major traffic north and south in DF as well?
- Talleyho69ModeratorThank you for a very complete answer!
- navegatorExplorerAll vehicles that are from Canada or the United States of America only have to follow the simple rules and they are:
Plates ending in this numbers
5 & 6 do not circulate on Mondays
7 & 8 do not circulate on Tuesdays
3 & 4 do not circulate on Wednesdays
1 & 2 do not circulate on Thursdays
9 & 0 do not circulate on Fridays
All vehicles that are from Canada or the United States of America will not circulate on Saturdays at all.
All vehicles can circulate on Sundays, since the offices are closed and there is no school traffic is light.
All vehicles that are from Canada or the United States of America that have license plates that end in a letter from A to Z shall not circulate on Fridays or Saturdays.
All those colored decals and holograms do not apply to any vehicles that are not registered in the Distrito Federal or the State of Mexico as in vehicles that are from Canada or the United States of America, do not get confused by the colors and zero and double zero hologram decals, foreign plated vehicles can not obtain them, as I stated before there are those that will argue about the colored decals, you can not get one with plates from Canada or the USA!
I live and drive in the valley of Mexico City.
navegator - navegatorExplorerThe original thought was to lessen the traffic congestion, that did not work out, every one bought two or three vehicles with different plates or from the adjacent states so they kept the "hoy no circula" and started the smog check "Verificacion" in the hopes that the pollution would go down, this has worked to a great extent, they got rid of the old carbureted polluters but they missed extending the Metro system to the outskirts where most of the population lives and the politicos have the taxi, bus and minibus "combis" concessions for the extended colonies out side of the Federal District, so instead of solving the congestion and pollution the result is more vehicles on the road although the pollution has diminished with the fuel injected vehicles and the low sulfur diesel that is imported from the USA .
Anything that needs to be done has to be done between 10:00 AM and no latter than 12:30PM, after 14:00 hours the traffic is impossible with the mothers going for the school kids in taxis and driving while chatting on the phone and they create the worst traffic jams by double and triple parking waiting for the micro terrorist to get out of school, all the way from pre-kinder to high school.
After the kids get out of school the mothers go shopping and the traffic is brutal, no parking places or taxis so the after noon's are shot for going long distances, crossing from one end of the city to the other in the afternoon takes from 2 to 3 hours, in the mornings about one hour.

Click on any date and it will tell you exactly what plate, hours or restrictions. - gboppExplorerWow, is the traffic that bad in Mexico City that driving is restricted to certain days or is it a pollution thing?
- navegatorExplorerLicense plate 4409Q the key is the last digit "Q"
Since your plate finishes with a letter the days that you can not drive are Friday and Saturday, my plate finishes with an "A" I can not drive on Friday and Saturdays, all other days you are not allowed to drive between the hours of 05:00 AM and 10:00 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, Friday and Saturday you do not drive at all.
I live in the valley of Mexico and have a California plated car so I know, there are some on this forum that will argue about the different decals and colors and zero and double zero decals or "Verificacion" (smog check), none of that applies to vehicles that are not registered in the Federal District or the State of Mexico.
