The pool pump was just delivered and installed. They picked it up Wednesday at 5 and delivered it at noon on Saturday.
They dried it out, replaced the bearings and varnished the windings and bearings. They dried out the electronics and sent them to someone.
So far, so good. They will come back next Saturday to check it and make sure it is still working perfectly. If it is, we pay them 8,500 pesos (we insisted and gave them half today). For Mexico, that is a lot of money. In comparison to buying a new pump, it's not a bad deal at all.
It's currently filtering water like mad, but it still looks awful. We'll add floculant tonight and vacuum tomorrow so it should look a lot better.
I have found new pumps in Arizona on eBay and with shipping and VAT the total cost will/would be just under $2,000 USD. Hopefully the dried out one will survive!!!
