Hwy 101 & Astoria-Megler Bridge

We are hoping to travel Hwy 101 from Crescent City CA to Astoria OR around March 20th and then through WA to Sequim . Is the Astoria bridge usually passable at this time? Would you continue from Astoria on 101 and travel around the top of Olympic Natl Park, or take the inside loop up from Olympia? Any and all suggestions welcome! New to RV.NET, this is my 2nd post. I've already gotten a wealth of info here.
  • Going up, I suggest the outside loop and a stop at the Hoh Rain Forest. Then exit Sequim on the inside.
  • Like donn says above...the bridge is almost always open...but it can be windy, especially in the afternoon or during a storm.

The route around the Olympic Peninsula on 101 is your choice either way...take your pick. We go both just to shake it up for variety.
    Have a good trip.

  • The bridge is almost always open. Wind is the worst factor you might encounter. But until the day/hour you cross it there is no telling how bad that might be.
