Veebyes is right. Have done Hwy 2 east & west bound between the UP and Everett WA probably 10 + times. It's a great ride - better than any interstate. Finding gas and diesel is easy. Many many many places to camp. Have never had to stay in a motel though there are a number of decent cgs associated with motels. Lots of really good mom & pop eateries.
