Being from St. Louis, MO and traveling through the "UP" from Wisconsin to Michigan, we'll be near Sault Ste Marie. We want to camp in Canada and prefer a provincial park. We are B campers and not fond of "RV Parks". Do however require electric and prefer flush facilities. Want to spend a night or two and not vary too far from the border for the return trip. Both DW & myself have medical issues and am concerned about customs, but that's another matter.What are your recommendations for a campground with nearby quality/good local food?

Take a look at Lake Superior Provincial park, it is a couple hours north of Sault Ste Marie on the Trans Canada highway. The drive from Sault to the park is amazing and the park is also amazing, isolated pebble beaches to walk on, excellent hikes in the hills, some amazing native pictographs on the water and some beach front sites to watch the sun set on Lake Superior. It is also far enough north to avoid the party weekend crowds. I have been to a lot of provincial parks in Ontario and it is one of my all time favourites. Once you get north of the Sault, it is the real north, so not a lot of food choices.

BlueBerry hill at goulais river is nice, older place treed nicely. There was or maybe still is a teacher who full times up in the back, always fun to see him.

As far as customs go, check out websites for Canadian tourism/immigration for information on what is not allowed. And remember your passports! You'll need them to get back into the U.S.

Our kids grew up at Agawa Bay in Lake Superior Provincial park. We returned there three years ago and my daughter and her husband came up. It is a very special park.

X2 on Lake Superior Provincial Park. If you do need to stop on the US side Brimley State Park in Mi. is very close to the border and is nice.

Brimley SP is one of our favorites. And just a short drive to Sault Ste Marie and the locks, about 5 miles. ;)

X3 on Lake Superior PP, with Pancake Bay also being nice if you can get a site next to the lake. We've been to both half a dozen times. (Love the Orphan Lake trail at Lake Superior PP.)

We found Brimley SP in MI to be miserable - small cramped sites. The neighbors (plural) were practically on top of us and their AC kept us awake. (This was back when we had a PuP. Haven't been back since.)

Why would medical issues be a problem crossing the border? I don't think you have to be concerned about the border crossing.
