Hwy 2

Thanks all for the heads up about the const East of Libby. We are leaving West
Glacier tomorrow for Spokane, will have to endure the headache, alt route not
worth the time and fuel, not on any kind of schedule.

If you're looking for the fastest route, I generally take US 93 south from Kalispell to Elmo where I turn rt onto MT 28. At MT 200, I turn left for a few miles to MT 135 (really pretty drive along the Clark Fork River) to St Regis where you'd turn rt onto I-90 which will take you over Lookout and 4th of July Passes. As an alternative, you could turn right at MT 200 and head to Sandpoint ID (this would be farther, but this route is very scenic). Depends on whether you're trying to make good time or enjoy the journey.

PaulJ, the striping is west of Libby. The project we are talking about is east of Libby and the road is gone. When we left Libby we took Rt 56 to Rt 200 at Noxon, then on to Plains and Thompson Falls to Missoula to get back to I-90 to go east.

MT200 is another good route when heading west to Idaho.

JGrimes, do you have any idea what they are doing there?

Neighbors daughter reported there was a 2 hour wait at the construction east of Libby today. She chose to go through Eureka to get to Kalispell from Northern Idaho.

Shovelhead and JGrimes, that is the construction area I mentioned in the above post. Jgrimes, good luck with the West Reserve Dr. situation.

Hope you're enjoying your travels on HWY 2. I haven't driven it, but there's a hwy sign at the west end of Kalispell indicating there is a construction delay just east of Libby. Apparently, there can be a delay of up to 20 minutes. If you need advice on an alternate route send me a PM.

Shovelhead, 3 weeks ago there was construction just east of Libby, MT. Not bad but a long term project. Pilot car took us thru. And don't even think about washing your rig anytime before going thru. They keep it wet and it was muddy. We were going to Libby and dumped at the east end of Libby at Town Pump/Lucky Logger Casino. Free dump at the faw west end of gravel parking lot. I did squirt some or stuff off the mud flaps and wheel wells. Enjoy the area.
