I took hwy 38 a couple years ago. Gorgeous drive! Especially the second half, between the rock face and the river.
It's a smaller road than 126. Definitely off the beaten path. I liked it better for that reason.
There's a tiny rv park about halfway, right on the river, mostly seasonal locals I think. Super cheap PA price, highly recommended. Hairpin turn to get in, but I saw a big rig in there.
