This is one of those roads that gets discussed quite often. I travel it yearly, summer and winter. Last winter, we travelled it in the dark during a snowstorm right before they closed the road for three days. We couldn't see the edge so there was nothing to fear. We took our half out of the middle as the only other vehicles we saw were snowplows with lots of flashing lights. :E
If you are comfortable with handling your rig on curvy mountain roads, it isn't a problem. Although at your length, you might be better off disconnecting the jeep and driving it separately. Click on this link to see the kind of situation you might find yourself in:
