Two camps. One says it's no problem, the other, don't do it.
Citing semis and tour busses and the like is not a valid argument. The drivers of said rigs are professionals and likely have done it more than a few times. And they (usually) know to stay on their side of the double yellows. An OP who asks this question, asks for a reason -- they've never done it.
Just because a poster here has done it with no problems doesn't mean others will have the same experience. Citing that it's a beautiful scenic drive is also not a valid argument. The driver of ANY rig should be paying attention to their driving, on this or any other road. If they are not, then they are placing themselves and others in jeopardy.
Yes, it's a US highway. Yes, folks do it all the time without incident. And yes, there are horror stories about this route. I wish I could find it again, there was a posting here at one time from an emergency services responder who actually LIVES and WORKS this highway, and the caution that should be exercised to drive this route.
As has been stated, it's up to each driver to determine their comfort level. And as suggested, take a toad/towed up there if any questions about the route, and then decide based on comfort level with a smaller vehicle.
