I 10 Mobil Tunnel

duster...that's the downtown bypass, not to be confused with the correct one mentioned by me.

I'm more nervous going over the Lake Charles bridge than I am going through the Mobile tunnel. That bride feels so narrow while being surrounded by 18 wheelers :(

The tunnel is a cake walk.

DO NOT get detoured, like I did, right before the I10 tunnel and end up pointed towards the hwy 16 or 98 or Government St. tunnel. It was 12'2 clearance going west bound. Some construction got me off I10 which immediately turned me into the older tunnel...no way to escape. I just stopped, called 911 before I entered. BIG mess and construction workers kept telling me, just go on thru, it's OK...I could have shaved my 12'10 TT to 12'2 somewhere under the channel. This was several years ago, might not be a concern on I10 anymore, but I never wanted to tell a story like this one.

If it's the going through a tunnel thing and not height requirements then you can easily bypass. I have known some who have a natural fear of tunnels as well as high risers/bridges. Take I-65...about 9 to 10 miles take I-165...2nd exit is for the alt. 90/bay bridge...go left here and it will take you back to I-10.

My 5vr is 13'4" (actual measurement hooked to truck).

Been thru that tunnel several times.

As suggested..watch your speed

No problem with Mobile tunnel. Go thru it all the time. No inspection.

Been through many times. No stopping or inspection required.
Just watch your speed on the west end.

We have a tunnel here on I64 near Virginia beach and they have us pull out for an inspection of our propane tanks being required to be turned off before going thru the tunnel. RV's are restricted from going thru the tunnel in Baltimore..

Probably should check Google to see what their rules might be for RV's
