Certainly there can be traffic jams in any large city, even on routes that are ordinarily no problem. Riding with a friend, I once advised on the best way to DFW airport. Right! A wreck far ahead put us in a waiting mood.

Just to say, we have been through the Mobile tunnel both towing and non-towing since 1962 and, for what it's worth, we have never had a slow-down.

Now, the next time may be the first.

Not to be picky, but it was Walter Huston, John Huston's father.

Also, we come through the tunnel at least a couple of times a year.
Never have had any kind of traffic.

Just came through Mobile a couple of days ago from the east side. The traffic jam on the bridge was HORRIBLE and it took about 45 minutes to get to and through the tunnel. Just saying.....

If you're worried about propane restrictions in the tunnel, there aren't any. If you choose to use the it, just be careful to slow down exiting the tunnel heading west. Camp on!

Not sure why you want to avoid the tunnel; but the best way thru Mobile or any other city on I-10 is to stay on I-10 an avoid rush hours.
