Mobile Alabama RV camping

Headed to Mobile Alabama & would like your suggestions on RV places to stay. We have a 42 ft motor home. We are going to visit the USS Alabama & any other sites you might suggest in the area. Thanks for you help!
  • Stayed at "All About Relaxing" last spring and it's a really nice park. Only complaint is that spaces are a little tight, but not horribly so.
  • We liked Meaher State Park also. Close to everything. Full hookups @ $35/night. Discounts are available.

Make sure you do the walking tour in Mobile. It's free unless you shop too much.:)....Dennis

    Meaher State Park
  • Loved Meaher State Park - directly on Mobile Bay across from the USS Alabama. Here's a link to a campground review with lots of photos from my blog: Meaher State Park Campground, Mobile, AL Easy access to everything in the area and nice campground. We also liked Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores - stayed in Meaher a week and Gulf two weeks back in November and December. Both were nice.

BTW, visiting the USS Alabama, we thought we'd be there about an hour & a half, so we went about 2 PM. Two and a half hours later we were wishing they weren't closing soon. Be sure to allocate as much time as you'll want to stay and peruse the battleship, the submarine and the airplanes.

You can also ride the ferry (for $5 if it's just people) from Ft Morgan to Dauphin Island and back. Cheap way to get to see the dolphins and watch boat traffic.

We also enjoyed sunset at the pier at Fairhope. Whatever you do ENJOY!
  • We are in Montgomery right now and have reservations at 'All About Relaxing' which is rated very high, gated park, and only a couple years old.

Have not been there yet but the comments and service on the phone are great.
  • Many, many moons ago, we stayed at Gulf Shores State Park (Alabama), when there were still trees and before a certain hurricane changed everything. We journeyed over Mobile to see the USS Alabama and had a really great time!

I do know this is a very popular park, so make reservations early!
  • We stayed at Palm Bays RV Park, which is south of Mobile, down near Dauphine Island. We would stay there again. It's an easy drive to the USS Alabama.

We also visited the USS Alabama. Last summer, I visited the USS North Carolina. Although the ships are basicly the same, there were differences between the two in the engine rooms and in the fire control rooms.
