- AllworthExplorer III-4 is always bad and going to get worse. Heavy construction from I-95 to Deland is ongoing and even heavier construction is about to start through the Orlando Metro (They are putting barriers out in the Maitland area as we sit here.).
West of Disney is not too bad UNLESS there is a crash. Then it shuts down. The Disney interchanges (3 of them) are bad because everybody is lost and the kids are yelling and the wife is directing and...and...
Then add the drivers who think the answer to congestion is high speed lane changes.
You get the idea.
We have lived here for 42 years and avoid it whenever possible, particularly with the trailer. - jnharleyExplorerWe just came from that area and it was a mess. We stayed off I-4 and used US routes to get to I-10 and then on to I-95. I-95 was really, really bad with stop and go traffic until the turn off for I-26 where the traffic heading for the Midwest peeled off. The next day, there was a severe accident just south of Savannah that closed the interstate northbound because the crash victims required air evacuation. There are lane closures heading north of Florence with 3 lanes dropping to one lane for bridge construction. We were stuck there for 85 minutes but the delay the day before had been 3-4 hours. We really enjoyed the person who passed us on the right shoulder at a high rate of speed (80+) and cut right across us and the car in the left lane. Not sure how he missed us. We feel lucky that we did not see an accident when we were on I-95. Many of the drivers were driving so recklessly. They do not care about their own lives let alone yours. We found the drivers on I-4 to be much more courteous. We did use I-4 a couple of times during our stay in the area and had no difficulties.
- RichertExplorerWestbound is exit 101 not sure of tolls, I have a sunpass and do not pay attention to them, if you stay on 417 the entire length it ends at exit 62 just in time for Disney
- dtgunner7ExplorerWhat exit to get on 417 heading west on I-4 and what are tolls with Sunpass???
- RichertExplorerI 4 can become a parking lot really quickly, one incident and you are parked. Avoid it if you can we went to New Smyrna from Winter Haven on I 4 it took almost 4hours returned on 417 took 2 hours
- pennysmom09ExplorerWe traveled I-4 today from central Florida to 95 and had no,problems. We traveled the same route coming south in November....no problems then either.
- Carlos___RanaeExplorerI recommend 417. 5 or 6 tolls but worth the money. If you decide on I-4, stay on middle lane. It will get you through the downtown area without having to change lanes
- Big_KatunaExplorer III-4 at best is a******shoot with a daily rush hour. Plus DOT is starting a six year "major improvement" around mid town, with miles of concrete barriers.
And downtown there are events, soccer stadium, etc so even weekends can be a mess.
Best take the bypass or use 301/I75. - djsamuelNomad

+1. I pay tolls to get to work rather than deal with I-4 - stevewiseExplorerI live in Orlando I-4 is a parking lot every day, depending where you are going it is better to take the toll road 417 to by pass a lot of it.
