I-5 closed in both directions north of Redding

Goggle Maps suggested a detour on Hwy 89. It looks like a long detour. Anyone know the road conditions & terrain of the area in comparing to I-5. I can barely climb up Siskiyou Summit southbound with a 8k TT in tow. Hopefully it won't have steeper grade than that.
